Box Score OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson men's basketball senior Greg Woody (Baltimore/Mount St. Joseph) scored a game-high 26 points, six of which came on two three-pointers as he became the Mustangs' career leader in three-point field goals made in the team's 113-88 loss to 14th-ranked St. Mary's (Md.) Saturday Owings Mills Gymnasium.
Stevenson (3-5, 1-2 CAC) allowed 100 points at home for the first time since Feb. 11, 2004 in a 109-80 loss to Gwynedd-Mercy and suffered its first loss at home since November 19, snapping a two-game winning streak.
Woody, who entered the game tied with Wade Henninger on the school's career three-point field goals list, broke the record with his first of the game with 18:18 remaining as he pulled the Mustangs within seven, 53-46.
Sophomore Brett Burrier (Westminster/Winters Mill) followed with a lay-up at 17:27 to cut the deficit to five, but the Seahawks outscored Stevenson 60-40 over the final 17 minutes after preseason All-American Alex Franz left the game with a cut over his left eye.
St. Mary's (5-1, 1-0 CAC) totaled 65 second half points, including 14 from Sam Burum and 11 from Owings Mills native James Davenport.
Saturday marked the 27th career 20-point game for Woody who now has 1,280 for his career, 64 behind Steven Segears for third all-time.
Woody finished the game 10-for-10 from the free throw line, marking the second time in his career he went 10-for-10 and first since Nov. 29, 2008 versus McDaniel. It was also the sixth time Woody has been perfect from the free throw line with at least six made.
Kelly Matthews holds the school record after going 16-for-16 at University of the Sciences on Jan. 15, 1996.
Burrier had 14 points, five rebounds and four assists while sophomore Danny Murphy (Glen Burnie/Severn) had 11 points and four rebounds. Freshman Stefon McCray (Baltimore/Archbishop Spaulding) had five points, a team-high six rebounds and four assists off the bench.
Burum finished with 16 points to lead five Seahawks in double figures. Mike Fitzpatrick had 15 points and Davenport added 11. Christian MacAuley totaled his first career double double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
After a break for final exams, Stevenson will return to action on Wednesday, December 14 at Wesley. Game time is at 8:00 p.m.
