STEVENSON, Md. - The Stevenson women's basketball team held Gallaudet to just 25 second half points on 9-of-29 shooting, but could not overcome a 10-point halftime deficit and a minus-18 rebound margin as the Bison held on for a 58-55 victory Wednesday night at Student Union Gymnasium.

The win was just the second in six road contests this season for Gallaudet (10-7, 5-5 CAC) who moved into sole possession of fourth place in the CAC standings.

After falling behind 33-23 at the half, the Mustangs (5-12, 3-7 CAC) opened the second half on a 15-4 run to take their first lead with 14:19 remaining on a three-pointer by junior guard JaQuelia Conley (Columbia/Montrose Christian).

The two teams went back-and-forth until the Bison used an 8-0 run to take a 54-47 lead with 3:28 left.

Back-to-back three-pointers by freshman guard Vanessa Rice (Oxon Hill/National Christian Academy) pulled Stevenson within three, 58-55 with 1:01 to play, but following the Bison's 23rd turnover of the game, the Mustangs could not get the equalizer in dropping their third home game out of the last four.

Conley finished with a team-high 17 points and was 5-of-10 from three-point range while sophomore guard Amanda Craig (Wilmington, Del./St. Elizabeth) had 12 points, five rebounds and five assists. Rice also had 12 points on four three-pointers.

Junior forward Kristen Steiner (Fallston/Fallston) posted her seventh double-digit rebound performance of the season, and third in the last four games, with a team-high 10 boards.

Gallaudet held a 48-30 advantage in rebounding, led by 16 from Easter Faafiti who also added a game-high 19 points. Nukeitra Hayes also had a double double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The duo led four Bison in double figures as Ann Whited added 14 and Shaquana McDonough had 12.

Stevenson hosts St. Mary's (Md.) on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. Fans are asked to wear pink as the Mustangs will be participating in the WBCA's Pink Zone initiative to raise money in the fight against breast cancer.
