Owings Mills, MD - The Villa Julie women's lacrosse team
took on CAC leader and nationally ranked #2 Salisbury this
afternoon. The Mustangs (2-2, 1-2) fought as hard as they
could but were defeated 21-2 by the Seagulls (8-0, 4-0).
Goalie, Kait Brzozowski (Bel Air, MD/Fallston)
guarded the goal for 40 minutes and totaled 6 saves, Devan
Malone (Highland, MD/River Hill) took over for the final
20 minutes.
The Mustangs came alive in the second half scoring two goals,
one by Kristyna Hnizda (Manchester, MD/North
Carroll) and one by Lisa Baker (Westminster,
MD/Westminster), both were unassisted.
Salisbury ran the field in the first half of the game going up
12-0 at the half. Villa scored their first goal three minutes
into the second half to make the score 14-1. Their second
came with 10 minutes left in the game, but it wasn't enough to come
close to the Seagulls.
Villa totaled 16 shots, 14 groundballs, 11 clears, and won 13
draw controls for the day. This is the Mustangs' second
conference loss this season. Salisbury remains undefeated in
both regular and conference play.
The Mustangs will return to their home field on Saturday, March
15, to take on Lasall College at 3:30.
