The Mustangs fell to Catholic this afternoon in a hard-fought
battle. Catholic came out on top 22-11.
Catholic took an immediate 3-0 lead over the Mustangs in the first
half. Jamie Jones was the first Mustang to
hit the cage but her goal was answered by two more Cardinal
goals. Cat Connelly scored another goal for
the Mustangs to try and get momentum flowing through the team but
Catholic shut them down once again. Catholic scored three
more goals before Meghan Smith scored a goal
off of a free position shot. The Cardinals scored another two
goals when Smith found the cage again for the
Mustangs. With less then a minute left in the half, Catholic
scored another goal to end the half ahead 11-4.
Villa came out of the half ready to play. They scored two
back to back goals at the beginning of the second half.
Catholic stopped them at 25:55 when Marcy Cuneo scored for the
Cardinals. Villa's Connelly scored for the
Mustangs after that but the Cardinals came back and scored two more
goals. Villa stepped up and scored four goals in a row and
dominated the field until the 18:00 mark. Catholic took over
and scored eight more goals to end the game ahead 22-11.
The loss brings the Mustangs' record to 4-9 overall and 1-5 in
the CAC. They return to their home field on Saturday, April
14, to take on Navy at 11:00 am.
