Owings Mills, Md.- The Mustangs hosted Stevens
Institute of Technology today and took the win, 17-7. Their
record improves to 4-5.
Villa's Lauren Zegowitz (Gaithersburg,
MD/Damascus) scored the first goal at the 29:27 mark. SIT
followed with three consecutive goals to give them the lead,
3-1. Mandi Carr (Crownsville, MD/Old Mill),
Julie Olson (Spofford, NH/Keene), and
Brittany Connelly (Catonsville, MD/Catonsville)
each scored one goal to take the lead, 4-3. Before the half,
SIT managed another goal and Zegowitz scored again
to bring the score to 5-4.
In the second half, the Mustangs went on a scoring rampage with
10 consecutive goals. SIT scored twice before Jamie
Jones (Glen Burnie, MD/Glen Burnie) grabbed an unassisted
goal. Carr finished the scoring for the
Mustangs with 29 seconds left in the game. SIT took one more
goal before the end.
Carr led the Mustangs with five goals, while
Zegowitz scored four.
The Mustangs return to the field on Tuesday, March 27 versus
York College at 3:30 p.m.
