Stevenson, MD.- Villa Julie hosted NEAC foe,
PSU-Berks in tonight's game. The lead was exchanged in the
beginning of the game but that was the last time the Nittany Lions
were in front.
At 16:09, Captain Phillip Williams (District
Heights, MD/ Bishop McNamara) stole the ball from PSU's Adam Fusco
and took it down the court for a layup to start off the momentum
for the Mustangs to maintain control of the court for the rest of
the half. With less then three minutes left in the half,
Steven Segears (Lanham, MD/ St. Johns College HS)
stole the ball and setup Cilk McSweeney (Ft.
Lauderdale, FL/ Dillard) for a dunk to put the Mustangs ahead by 20
points. PSU started to come back but there wasn't enough time
left in the half. Williams closed out the
half sinking a three-pointer to make the halftime score
41-21.
Elysian Richardson (Hartford, CT/ Suffield
Academy) opened the second half with two steals; one led to him
scoring a layup and the other to another McSweeney
dunk at 18:01. Greg Woody (Baltimore, MD/
Mt. St. Joes) stole the ball and took it in to sink a jumper to
give the Mustangs their largest lead of the day at 34 points,
64-30, over the Nittany Lions. Jeremy
Bernard (Baltimore, MD/ Western Tech) ended the game with
a layup, assisted by Vaughn Hewes (Baltimore, MD/
Calvert Hall), with 27 seconds left on the clock.
The Mustangs got the win of 78-56 over the Nittany Lions.
Their record improves to 14-7 overall and 11-2 in the NEAC.
McSweeney was the top scorer of the game with 24
points. Segears and
Williams both contributed 11 points each towards
the win. Next up for the Mustangs is a road trip to Polytech
on Thursday to play at 8 pm.
