Owings Mills, MD- The Mustangs fell to #2 NC Wesleyan this
afternoon in their last game of the regular season 2-0. The
defense stepped it up against the intense Wesleyan offense as they
held the nationally ranked offense to only 22 shots. Goalie,
Eric Lowman had a demanding presence in goal
recording 12 saves and only allowing the Battling Bishops to hit
the net two times. The Bishops hit the net 7 minutes into the
game to score the only goal in the first half.
The Mustangs came out with aggression in the second half and
battled hard against the Bishops. Lowman had
an incredible save but the Bishops found the goal for the second
time of the day off of the deflection. The game ended with
forceful play back and forth.
Before the game, Coach Plevyak honored the 5 graduating seniors
for their accomplishments and dedication to Mustang soccer:
#00- Eric Lowman is from Catonsville, MD and
Catonsville High. He is a four-year starter, playing in 66
games and starting 65. He has protected the net for a total
of 5,499 minutes and 42 seconds. He has recorded an
impressive 444 career saves during his Mustang career.
According to coach Plevyak, Eric is our Most Valuable Player, and
has had a tremendous career at Villa Julie and is the best player
in the Capital Athletic Conference.
#13- Brent Woolford, known to his teammates as
Bird, is from Pasadena, MD and Northeast High, has played in 69
games, starting 58. He's scored 29 career goals and hit the
net for 7 amazing game winning goals. Coach Plevyak says that
Bird works hard every minute he is on the field and has scored some
very big Mustang goals in his career.
#6- Kim Myrick came to us from Columbia, MD and
Wilde Lake High. He has played in 41 games, starting 19 in
his career. He has had 3 career goals and made one fantastic
game winner for the Mustangs. Coach Plevyak considers him to
be the fastest player in the CAC, and he scored a huge goal in our
1st victory this year.
#19- Matt Jackson is from Aberdeen, MD and
Aberdeen High. Matt has had two Mustang starts and played in
27 games. Matt has consumed the midfield allowing for smooth
transitions from defense to offense. Matt is known as a great
teammate and a quite gentleman who always shows kindness to
everyone, according to Coach Plevyak.
#22- Josh Kremer, also known as the best
dresser off the field according to Coach Plevyak, comes from
Dundalk, MD and Mt. Carmel High. Josh has played in 23 games
and started 5. Coach Plevyak says that Josh is a total team
player. He is very unselfish and keeps the team laughing on
and off the field.
In addition, Rebecca Harcum has been vital
in managing the Men's Soccer team. She has kept them on track
and is always ready to help. She has been a tremendous help
in the easy transition with the new coaching staff.
