Russell joins the Mustangs coaching staff for the 2021 season.

A four-year standout for Penn State University (2010-14), Russell was a two-time EIVA All-conference selection in 2013 and 2014. He was a member of the Nittany Lions teams that won four straight EIVA Conference titles and competed in four NCAA National semifinals. As a junior, Russell was named to the EIVA All-Tournament team.

Russell went on the play professionally, competing for TV Ingersoll Buehl in Buehl, Germany from 2015-16. While with the club, the team qualified for the German Cup Final for the first time in the club's history.

Since 2015, Russell has been coaching with the Maryland Juniors Volleyball Club as well as the Annapolis Volleyball Cluv, guiding four teams to earn bids for the USAV Junior Nationals.

Russell is a 2020 graduate of Penn State University, earning his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, Exercise Science.
