One of the greatest faceoff specialists in the history of the Stevenson men's lacrosse program, Furshman returns to the Mustangs coaching staff.
Last season, senior Justin Buonomo was named to the All-Commonwealth Conference First Team after ranking 14th in the nation with a .660 faceoff win percentage. The Mustangs led the conference with a .646 faceoff win percentage, winning 108 more faceoffs than the next closest team.
In 2014, senior Brent Hiken became the first player in program history to be drafted in the Major League Lacrosse (MLL). The 16th overall pick, Hiken was the lone Division III player selected and one of four faceoff specialists selected. Hiken was also was honored with the USILA Specialty Player Award as the top face-off specialist.
During the season, Hiken ranked second in the nation with a .720 faceoff win percentage and was named the Commonwealth Conference Tournament MVP after winning 19-of-22 faceoffs.
In 2013, the Mustangs led the conference and were ranked fourth in Division III with a .685 faceoff win percentage. Junior Brent Hiken and sophomore Sam Wyatt ranked fourth and 12th in Division III with a .709 and .665 face-off win percentage, respectively.
In his first season as the team's faceoff coach, Furshman mentored his replacement in Ray Witte. Under Furshman's guidance, Witte won 300 face-offs and totaled 168 ground balls, both school records, while earning USILA Second Team All-America honors.
A two-time honorable mention All-American and three-time All-CAC selection for the Mustangs from 2006-09, Furshman played in a school record 68 games. He won won 381-of-568 career face-offs for 67.1 percent and ranks second in faceoff percentage and third in faceoff wins. He is also third with 222 ground balls, sixth with 96 goals and seventh with 129 points.
As a senior, Furshman ranked fifth by winning 63.6 percent of his faceoffs and totaling 110 wins. He was named Inside Lacrosse/Nike Division III Player of the Week and CAC Player of the Week honors after totaling six points, four goals, 10 ground balls and winning 20-of-29 faceoffs in wins over No. 2 Gettysburg and Ursinus.
Following his senior season, Furshman was selected to participate in the USILA North/South Senior All-Star Game at Harvard Stadium where he was named MVP after he leading the South squad to a 17-13 victory with three goals and two assists.
A native of Miami, Florida, Furshman attended the Kent School in Connecticut before transferring to Stevenson from Towson University.
