BALTIMORE, Md. – Stevenson men's soccer earned a 1-0 road victory over Notre Dame (Md.) on Saturday afternoon. The Mustangs improved to 4-1-1 on the season with the win.
Stevenson controlled the offensive pressure throughout the opening half, recording nine shots while holding Notre Dame (Md.) to just two. Kameron Ross and Blest Dumbuya each tested the Gators' goalkeeper early before Gaston Magrinat-Valdes added another shot on goal in the 14th minute.
The Mustangs continued to create opportunities late in the half. Jeffrey Tillman nearly broke the scoreless tie in the 40th minute when his attempt struck the crossbar, while Will Dellinger followed with a shot on goal less than two minutes later. Despite the pressure, the two sides entered halftime scoreless.
Stevenson finally broke through in the 54th minute. Nick Gervase connected with Dumbuya, who found the back of the net to give the Mustangs a 1-0 advantage. The goal marked Dumbuya's lone tally on four shots on goal, while Gervase picked up the assist.
The Mustangs continued to generate chances after taking the lead, with Dumbuya forcing another save in the 64th minute. Ross added multiple opportunities late in the contest, including a shot on goal in the 84th minute, before Levi Tanguay forced a final save with 23 seconds remaining.
Andrew Sindicic and the Stevenson defense preserved the shutout, limiting Notre Dame (Md.) to seven total shots and just two on goal. Sindicic recorded two saves across 90 minutes to earn the clean sheet.
The Mustangs return to action on Wednesday when the host The Catholic University of America at 4 p.m. on Owings Mills East.
