ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – Stevenson women's soccer fell to Elizabethtown, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon at Hoover Field. The Mustangs move to 0-3-1 on the season, while the Blue Jays improve to 2-0-2.
Elizabethtown opened the scoring in the ninth minute, as they found the back of the net to give the Blue Jays an early 1-0 advantage. Karly Sheahan looked to answer less than a minute later with Stevenson's first shot of the afternoon before Ashley Bowman added an attempt in the 12th minute. Grace Fay recorded another opportunity in the 23rd, but the Mustangs entered halftime trailing by one.
Stevenson came out strong offensively in the second half, with Jenna Keener recording a pair of attempts in the opening three minutes. Kailyn Beall added a shot in the 54th minute before Keener put the Mustangs' first attempt on goal in the 60th, which was turned away by Elizabethtown goalkeeper. Beall followed with another opportunity less than two minutes later.
The Mustangs continued to search for the equalizer late in the contest. Sheahan registered an attempt in the 80th minute before Saleigha Fennel put a shot on frame less than a minute later, but the goalkeeper made the save to preserve the Blue Jays' advantage.
Stevenson outshot Elizabethtown 7-4 in the second half. Keener led the Mustangs with three shots, while Sheahan and Beall each recorded two. Fennel and Keener accounted for Stevenson's two shots on goal. Isabella Serano finished the afternoon with 11 saves in net.
The Mustangs return to action on Wednesday when they will host Shenandoah at 7 p.m. on Owings Mills East.
