Baseball suffers loss to Notre Dame of Maryland on senior day

OWINGS MILLS, Md. — The Stevenson University baseball team dropped a nonconference contest to Notre Dame of Maryland, 8–4, on Wednesday afternoon on senior day.

Notre Dame struck first in the opening inning and gradually built its lead with runs in five different frames. Stevenson answered in the second inning when Vincent Licor drove in Landon Richard with a single to even the score at 1–1. However, the Gators responded with three runs across the third and fourth innings to take control of the game.

Licor paced the Mustangs offensively, finishing 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. His two-run homer in the sixth inning, scoring Collin Palmieri, cut the deficit to 6–3 and provided a spark for Stevenson. Palmieri also contributed a strong performance, going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored, while Graham Sears and John Noll each recorded two hits.

On the mound, Dylan Grice took the loss after allowing two runs over three innings of work.

The Mustangs continued to battle late, adding a run in the seventh on Palmieri's RBI single, but Notre Dame (Md.) answered with two insurance runs in the eighth to seal the 8–4 victory.

Stevenson returns to action on Friday, March 10th, when they face Widener University for a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth (MAC Commonwealth) match up. First pitch is set for 3:30 p.m.
