OWINGS MILLS, MD. — Stevenson University delivered a strong offensive performance en route to an 11–6 victory over Widener on Friday afternoon, improving to 11–13 overall and 4–9 in conference play.
After falling behind 1–0 in the second inning, Stevenson quickly responded with a three-run frame highlighted by a home run from Graham Sears and a two-RBI single from Shaun Rudick. The Mustangs continued to build momentum in the fourth inning, as Zach Mayza drove in a run before Cole Reich launched a three-run homer to extend the lead to 7–1.
Widener narrowed the gap with a three-run sixth inning, but Stevenson answered once again in the seventh. Reich added his second home run of the game—a two-run shot—while Landon Richard followed with a two-run homer of his own, pushing the lead to 11–4.
Reich led the Mustangs offensively, going 4-for-5 with five RBIs and two home runs. Rudick contributed two RBIs, while Richard added a pair of RBIs on his seventh-inning blast. Stevenson finished with 12 hits and four home runs on the day.
On the mound, Chris Fortunato earned the win, allowing four runs (two earned) over five innings. Jake Treasure closed the game effectively, striking out five over 3.2 innings to secure the victory.
The Mustangs travel to Chester, Pennsylvania tomorrow for a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth (MAC Commonwealth) double header, scheduled for noon and 3 p.m.
