Owings Mills, Md. (April 7) – In non-conference action, the Stevenson Mustangs softball team delivered a dominant performance on their home field, sweeping Hunter in a doubleheader with commanding 8-0 and 11-2 victories. The Mustangs controlled both games from the start, using explosive early offense and strong pitching efforts to secure the pair of run-rule wins.
Game 1:
Stevenson wasted no time getting on the board, striking for two runs in the bottom of the first inning. After
Sahara Ward reached and set the tone on the bases,
Maria Morsa drove in the game's first run with an RBI single before
Ava Stafursky followed with another RBI knock to give the Mustangs an early 2-0 lead.
The Mustangs continued to apply pressure in the second inning, capitalizing on aggressive base-running and a Hunter miscue to extend the lead to 3-0.
Stevenson then broke the game open in the third inning, plating four runs on timely hitting and defensive errors. RBI singles from
Tessa Boswell and
Mykaela Getz highlighted the frame, while additional runs crossed the plate to push the advantage to 7-0.
Stevenson added one more insurance run in the fifth inning, as Morsa delivered her second RBI hit of the day to make it 8-0.
In the circle,
Anna Sexton (5-5) was outstanding, tossing a complete-game shutout. She allowed just five hits while striking out three and not issuing a walk, keeping Hunter off the scoreboard throughout.
Offensively, the Mustangs tallied 11 hits, led by Boswell's perfect 3-for-3 performance with an RBI and two runs scored. Morsa and Getz each recorded two hits and drove in multiple runs, while Ward added two hits and set the tone at the top of the lineup.
Game 2:
Stevenson once again wasted no time asserting control, erupting for a massive 10-run first inning that set the tone early. The Mustangs strung together nine hits in the frame, highlighted by RBI contributions from Morsa,
Rebecca Maiorano,
Sierra Williams, Boswell, Getz,
Olivia Munoz, and Ward. Morsa led the charge with multiple hits and RBIs in the inning, while the lineup consistently capitalized on opportunities to keep the pressure on Hunter.
The Mustangs continued to produce offensively throughout the game, adding another run in the fourth inning when
Christina Franco delivered an RBI double to extend the lead to 11-0. Hunter was able to avoid a complete shutout in the last frame, putting up two runs before falling under the mercy rule.

Ky Vaughn (2-2) earned the win after tossing four strong innings, allowing just three hits while keeping Hunter scoreless through her outing.
Offensively, Stevenson finished with an impressive 16 hits. Multiple players recorded multi-hit performances, helping the Mustangs secure the run-rule victory in commanding fashion.
The Mustangs will return to action on Thursday when they host non-conference opponent Lancaster Bible for a 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. doubleheader in celebration of Faculty and Staff Appreciation Day.
