OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson University dropped a non-conference match-up to York (Pa.), 6–1, on Friday afternoon. Despite scoring first, the Mustangs were unable to maintain momentum as York responded with consistent offensive production throughout the game.
Stevenson opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning when Cole Reich delivered an RBI triple to bring home Ben Vaughan for an early 1–0 advantage. York quickly answered in the second inning with a solo home run to even the score. The Spartans took control in the third inning, plating three runs on timely hitting, including an RBI single and a two-run double from to extend the lead to 4-1.
York added insurance runs in the sixth inning, capitalizing on a combination of hits and productive outs to push the score to 6–1. Stevenson's offense finished with six hits and leaving five runners on base. Reich led the Mustangs with a triple and the team's lone RBI, while Graham Sears and Zach Mayza each contributed doubles.
On the mound, Jake Treasure (2–1) was charged with the loss after allowing four runs over four innings while striking out six. Zane Stone and Ari Lonstein combined for three innings of relief, with Lonstein surrendering two additional runs.
The Mustangs return to action tomorrow when they host York at noon.
