OWINGS MILLS, Md. — Stevenson University baseball erased a 3-0 deficit and walked off Neumann University, 7-6, in 10 innings on Tuesday afternoon in a dramatic non-conference battle. The Mustangs improved to 17-15 with the comeback victory.
Stevenson trailed 3-0 through three and a half innings before responding in the bottom of the fourth. Tyler Deery delivered a two-run single, and Gavin Wagner followed with an RBI single to even the score at 3-3. Neumann answered with a run in the fifth and added a two-run homer in the seventh to regain a 6-3 advantage.
Levi Loughry opened the seventh inning with a single before Graham Sears launched a two-run home run to cut the deficit to one. Later in the frame, Connor Mullaney scored the tying run after a Neumann error, knotting the game at 6-6.
Stevenson's bullpen kept Neumann off the board over the final three innings, allowing the offense a chance to finish the comeback. In the bottom of the 10th, Landen Eyster worked a walk, stole both second and third base, and crossed the plate on a wild pitch for the game-winning run.
Sears paced the Mustangs offensively, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBIs. Deery added two RBIs, while Wagner chipped in a run-scoring hit. Dylan Grice earned the win after starting on the mound, while five Stevenson relievers combined to secure the extra-inning victory.
The Mustangs return to action tomorrow when they travel to York College for a Middle Atlantic Conference Commonwealth match-up. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
