READING, Pa. – The Stevenson women's lacrosse team (9-6 overall, 4-1 MAC Commonwealth) earned a 16-4 victory over Alvernia on Saturday afternoon.
The Mustangs came out strong with a four-goal run to open the game. Emma Carpenter and Vivi Kaminaris each scored in the first quarter, while Carpenter and Olivia Galati added goals early in the second. Alvernia got on the board at the 7:23 mark of the second quarter, but Zoe Kaplan and Ava Treakle responded with goals of their own. The Golden Wolves added one more before halftime, though Galati converted a man-up opportunity to give Stevenson a 7-2 lead at the break.
Alice Petersen opened the second half with a goal at 9:58 in the third quarter, followed by scores from Maddie Kline and Sarah Perry. Alvernia netted its third goal at 5:45, but Galati and Lauren Caulden answered to extend the Mustangs' advantage to 12-3 heading into the fourth.
In the final frame, Treakle and Zoe McSharry each found the back of the net, while Alvernia added its fourth goal of the game. Allison Zimmerman and June Price capped the scoring as Stevenson secured the commanding 16-4 win.
Galati led the Mustangs with a six-point afternoon including her hattrick and three assists. Petersen notched five points with a goal and four assists, as Treakle tallied three points and led the team with eight draw controls. Three Mustangs had two-point outings, as six other Mustangs contributed a goal. Anna Johnston and Reilly Holstrom split time in goal, making a combined five saves.
The Mustangs will prepare to travel to No. 15 Messiah for a road contest on Wednesday. First draw is scheduled for 4 p.m.
