READING, Pa. — Stevenson opened Saturday's MAC Commonwealth doubleheader with a strong offensive performance, defeating Albright 7-3 in game one but fell short 12-5 in game two on Saturday afternoon.
Game 1
Albright started off strong, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first to take the early lead. Stevenson chipped away and broke through grabbing the lead in the fourth inning.
Cole Reich paced the offense by going 2-for-3 with two doubles and a walk, while Shaun Rudick finished 2-for-4 with two runs scored. Graham Sears added a solo home run, and Zach Mayza drove in two runs with a double.
On the mound, Sommers Turner pitched 4.1 innings striking out four batters.
Game 2
The Lions opened the scoring with a two run homer in the bottom of the third inning. Cole Reich tied the game with a two run homer of his own to start the fourth inning. Landon Richard followed that up with a home run of his own to take the lead.
Albright scored seven unanswered runs from the bottom of the fourth till the top of the ninth. In the top of the ninth Connor Mullaney singled to left field scoring Caleb Laverty. Chase Endres notched an RBI of his own.
The Mustangs return to action on Wednesday, April 22nd, when they host Neumann University for a 3:30 p.m. start time.
