HILTON HEAD, S.C. - The Stevenson men's tennis team (2-2) opened up spring break play in dominant fashion with a 7-0 win over Ripon College (WI).
Luke Appleman and
Brandon Nguyen swept their No. 1 doubles opponents, 6-0, to improve to 2-0 on the year.
Christian Coulson and
King Nacua won in No. 2 by the same 6-0 score.
Dominic Duncan and
Nate Kelly won their No. 3 match, 7-5. Kelly and Duncan are 3-0 as a duo.
Appleman evened his singles record to 2-2 in a 6-4, 7-5 win. Nguyen picked up his second win in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0.
Coulson won his third straight, 6-0, 7-5, while
Nickolas Valis overcame a one-set deficit to win in three sets, 6-7 (8-6), 7-5, 10-6.
Colin Sepos (No. 5) and
Quentin Melancon (No. 6) picked up their first career wins by scores of 6-4, 6-0 and 7-6 (7-4), 6-1.
The Mustangs will have a day off before taking on The College of Wooster (OH) on Tuesday, March 17.
