ASTON, Pa. – The Stevenson women's ice hockey team (4-16-1 overall, 4-12-1 MAC) fell to Neumann (6-16-0 overall, 4-14-0 MAC), 3-2, on Saturday afternoon.
Neumann opened the scoring just over four minutes into the contest, but Abby Smith responded at the 14:23 mark of the first period, finishing a play set up by Kiana Baker to tie the game heading into the first intermission.
The second period remained scoreless before Neumann capitalized on a power-play opportunity just over five minutes into the third period to regain a one-goal advantage. Jalyn Jones tied the contest once again at 15:46 with an assist from Kayla Suders, but the Knights sealed the win with a shorthanded empty-net goal late in the period.
Stevenson controlled play throughout the game, outshooting Neumann 45-18. Four Mustangs recorded a point in the contest, while Emily Carson made 15 saves in net.
The Mustangs will prepare for a road matchup against Alvernia on Friday. Puck drop is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Body Zone in Reading, Pa.
