REISTERSTOWN, Md. – The Stevenson women's ice hockey team (4-15-1 overall, 4-11-1 MAC) earned a 2-0 shutout victory over King's (Pa.) (1-20-0 overall, 1-16-0 MAC) on Friday evening.
Meghan Croyle opened the scoring at the 11:12 mark of the first period, finishing a play set up by Emma DeMan and Kylie Chandler. Carleigh Barwick followed just two minutes later with a goal assisted by Croyle and DeMan to give Stevenson a 2-0 advantage.
The second and third periods featured a back-and-forth battle, but Emily Carson turned aside all 17 shots she faced to earn her first career shutout.
Stevenson controlled play throughout the contest, outshooting King's 51-17 and winning the faceoff battle, 37-20. DeMan led the Mustangs at the dot, winning 19 of 23 faceoffs, while she and Croyle each recorded two-point performances.
The Mustangs will turn their attention to a road matchup against the Neumann Knights on Saturday. Puck drop is scheduled for 2 p.m. at Ice Works in Aston, Pa.
