Owings Mills, Md. (February 18) – The Stevenson University women's basketball team delivered a commanding performance inside Owings Mills Gymnasium on Wednesday evening, racing past Albright College, 74–42, in MAC Commonwealth action with the support of their bench in scoring.
Stevenson wasted no time setting the tone. After winning the opening tip,
Janiya Ennis pushed the pace and converted a fast-break layup to get the Mustangs on the board. Following an early Albright response,
Kalea Wynter finished in the paint off a
Nadia Ferguson assist, and
Anaya Price knocked down a jumper and free throw to give Stevenson a 7–4 edge midway through the first quarter. Ferguson later drained a three-pointer off a turnover to stretch the lead, and late buckets from
Elia Richardson and
Mina Hashemzadeh helped the Mustangs close the period on a strong note.
The Mustangs erupted in the second frame, turning defensive pressure into offense. Wynter completed an and-one opportunity to push the lead to double digits, and Ennis began to heat up from beyond the arc. Back-to-back three-pointers ignited an 11–2 run, extending the margin to 27–10. Hashemzadeh and
Sanaa Thorne added fast-break finishes, while Ferguson capped the half with a steal and layup before Hashemzadeh beat the buzzer in transition. Stevenson dominated the quarter 21–6, taking a commanding 37–14 lead into halftime.
Out of the break, the Mustangs maintained control. Ennis continued to attack the lane, while Price connected from deep to keep Albright at bay. Ferguson and Jean-Jacques contributed on both ends, forcing turnovers that led to easy transition points as the Mustangs carried a 56–30 cushion into the final period.
In the fourth, Stevenson's depth took center stage. The bench added timely buckets, including interior finishes from Hashemzadeh and Thorne, while the defense held Albright to just 12 points in the quarter, en route to the 74–42 victory.
Stevenson will return to action on Saturday, February 21 when it hosts Widener for a 1:00 p.m. MAC Commonwealth matchup. Senior Day festivities will take place prior to tipoff.
