Owings Mills, Md. (February 14) – The Stevenson men's basketball team delivered a performances on Saturday night, pulling away in the second half for an emphatic 84–63 MAC Commonwealth victory over Messiah inside Owings Mills Gymnasium.
After Messiah grabbed the opening tip and briefly found its rhythm in transition, Stevenson answered quickly as Jelani Lee buried a three-pointer on the Mustangs' first possession to ignite the home crowd. The Falcons pushed ahead midway through the first half, building an eight-point edge and threatening to control the tempo.
Stevenson responded with relentless effort on the glass. Second-chance opportunities fueled a momentum swing, highlighted by Kendall Seguignol's put-backs and David Pridgen's presence in the paint. A late 7–0 burst, capped by a deep three from Seguignol and a driving layup by Myles Jackson in the closing seconds, sent the Mustangs into halftime with a commanding 39–28 advantage.
Stevenson wasted no time extending its lead after the break. Kole Beaman knocked down a transition three just over a minute into the half, and Pridgen followed with a tip-in to stretch the margin to 16. Moments later, Lee connected from beyond the arc, and Seguignol electrified the gym with a steal and fast-break dunk that pushed the lead past 20.
The Mustangs' defensive pressure forced turnovers and limited Messiah's second-chance looks, while the offense continued to attack inside, outscoring the Falcons 46–32 in the paint for the game and the overall 84-63 win at the end of 40-minutes.
The Mustangs will look to carry that energy back on the road when they travel to Albright College on Wednesday, February 18 for a 7:00 p.m. conference matchup.
