Reading, Pa. (February 18) – The Stevenson Mustangs battled on the road Wednesday night but ultimately fell to Albright College, 95–76, in a MAC Commonwealth match up at the Bollman Center.
Albright opened the contest with an early bucket before
Myles Jackson answered with a turnaround jumper to even the score at 2–2. After the Lions strung together a quick 7–2 spurt,
Jelani Lee knocked down a pull-up jumper and later finished inside to keep the Mustangs within striking distance at 9–6.
Kendall Seguignol provided a spark off the bench midway through the half, drilling a three-pointer off a M. Jackson assist to cut the deficit to 17–9.
Andre Brooks added a strong take to the rim, and
Noah Ihezue connected from deep at the 11:10 mark to make it 24–17.
Despite Stevenson's efforts to chip away, Albright caught fire from beyond the arc, using a flurry of three-pointers to extend its advantage. M. Jackson converted a pair at the free-throw line in the closing minute, but the Mustangs entered halftime trailing 51–31.
Coming out of the break, Stevenson showed resilience. M. Jackson scored five quick points, including an and-one opportunity, while
David Pridgen buried a three-pointer to trim the margin to 55–37.
Kyle Luddy attacked the rim for a layup, and Seguignol added a fast-break finish to keep momentum building. Ihezue continued to lead the charge offensively, scoring in the paint and knocking down shots in the second half. His triple at the 6:58 mark cut the deficit to 77–61, and another three-pointer later brought Stevenson within 15.
Kole Beaman contributed at the line, and
Solomon Lewis provided a key defensive stop and points from the stripe as the Mustangs continued to compete down the stretch. Despite the final score of 95-76, Stevenson pushed through to the final buzzard.
Stevenson will return home for its next contest against Widener University. Senior Day festivities will take place prior to the 3:00 p.m. MAC Commonwealth tip off on Saturday, February 21.
