WESTMINSTER, Md. – Stevenson men's soccer fell to McDaniel, 2-1, on Tuesday evening at the Soccer Complex. The Mustangs move to 6-3-2 overall following the nonconference contest, while the Green Terror improve to 7-3-1.
McDaniel opened the scoring in the 13th minute when they found the back of the net off an assist, giving the Green Terror an early 1-0 advantage. Stevenson responded with several chances throughout the opening half, including shots on goal from Rylan Dauter, Blest Dumbuya and Trent Phillips, but McDaniel goalkeeper kept the Mustangs off the board.
Stevenson goalkeeper Andrew Sindicic helped keep the deficit at one before halftime, making saves in the 32nd and 42nd minutes as the Mustangs entered the break trailing 1-0.
The Mustangs wasted little time finding the equalizer after the break. In the 49th minute, Dumbuya scored his lone goal of the match off an assist from Gaston Magrinat-Valdes to bring Stevenson level at 1-1.
McDaniel answered just over 11 minutes into the second half. Stevenson continued to push for another equalizer, earning three second-half corner kicks and generating attempts from Nick Gervase and Kameron Ross, but the Mustangs were unable to break through.
Dumbuya led the Stevenson attack with three shots, including two on goal and the Mustangs' lone tally. Gervase, Levi Tanguay and Ross each added two shots as Stevenson finished with 12 attempts and six shots on goal. Sindicic played all 90 minutes in net, recording three saves.
The Mustangs return to action on Saturday when they travel to Alvernia for a MAC Commonwealth match-up set for 4 p.m.
