REISTERSTOWN, Md. – The Stevenson women's ice hockey team (0-12-1, 0-8-1 MAC) fell 6-2 to Neumann (5-8-0, 3-6-0 MAC) on Friday evening.
The first period remained scoreless until the final 19 seconds of play, when Neumann got on the board and tallied another goal just four seconds later. Nine minutes into the second period, Maggie Dean cut the Mustangs' deficit in half, with assists from Abby Smith and Kiana Baker. The Knights extended their lead to 3-1 on a power-play opportunity.
Neumann opened the scoring in the third period, but the Mustangs answered with a goal from Jalyn Jones, assisted by Meghan Croyle. The Knights then netted two empty-net goals to secure the 6-2 victory.
Dean, Smith, Baker, Jones, and Croyle each recorded a point in the game. Maggie Sehnart made 11 saves in the first period, while Emily Carson stopped five shots over the final two periods.
The Mustangs return to action tomorrow for their second game against Neumann. Puck drop is set for 3 p.m.
