REISTERSTOWN, Md. – The Stevenson women's ice hockey team (1-12-1 overall, 1-8-1 MAC) earned a 3-2 victory over Neumann (5-9 overall, 3-7 MAC) on Saturday afternoon. This win marks, Head Coach Ben Halford's first win at the helm of the program.
Emma DeMan opened the scoring at the 5:53 mark of the first period, finishing a play set up by Abby Smith and Meghan Croyle. Croyle followed shortly after with a goal of her own, assisted by DeMan, to give the Mustangs a 2-0 advantage. Neumann responded with a goal at 11:21, but Stevenson maintained a one-goal lead heading into the intermission.
Neumann tied the contest midway through the second period, evening the score at 2-2. Less than a minute later, Kira Otto netted the game-winning goal, with assists from Kiana Baker and Kayedi Spone, to secure the 3-2 win for the Mustangs.
DeMan and Croyle each recorded two points on the afternoon with a goal and an assist, while four other Mustangs also tallied a point. Maggie Sehnert earned the win in net, making 25 saves.
Stevenson will next turn its attention to MAC opponent King's (Pa.), with the matchup scheduled for Friday at 3 p.m. in Wilkes-Barre, Pa.
