Three Mustangs net goals in victory over Neumann

ASTON, Pa. – The Stevenson men's ice hockey team (8-4 overall, 7-1 MAC) earned a 3-2 victory over Neumann (7-5-1 overall, 6-2-1 MAC) on Friday evening.

Greg Spitznagel opened the scoring for the Mustangs at the 7:19 mark of the first period, finishing a play set up by Aiden Lindley and Jack Day to give Stevenson a 1-0 lead.

Neumann evened the score just over three minutes into the second period, but Stevenson responded quickly. John Musella tallied a power-play goal with assists from Matt Yeager and Blake Benson to restore the Mustangs' one-goal advantage.

The Knights tied the contest once again early in the third period, but Carson Galin delivered the game-winner at 9:29, finishing a feed from Jack Costabile and Aidan McDowell to secure the 3-2 win.

Nine different Mustangs recorded a point in the contest, while Stevenson controlled the faceoff circle, winning 39 of 68 draws. Ford DeLoss turned aside 27 shots to earn the victory in net.

Stevenson and Neumann will conclude the weekend road series on Saturday. Puck drop is scheduled for 4 p.m. in Aston, Pa.
