Men's Basketball Opens MAC Commonwealth Play with Road Win at Messiah

Mechanicsburg, Pa. (January 7) – Opening MAC Commonwealth play on the road, the Stevenson men's basketball team earned a convincing 98-66 victory over Messiah on Wednesday evening.

Messiah scored the game's opening basket, but Stevenson quickly seized momentum, jumping out to an 11-5 lead three minutes into the contest following a three-pointer from Kole Beaman. The Falcons energized the home crowd and kept the game tight through much of the first half, staying within a possession at several points.

A three-pointer from Christian Jackson and a layup by Noah Ihezue knotted the score at 26-26 with 8:02 remaining before halftime. From there, the Mustangs took control, closing the half on a strong scoring run to build a 49-37 advantage at the break.

Stevenson carried that momentum into the second half. A fast break layup by Ihezue extended the lead to 20 midway through the period, setting the tone for the remainder of the game. Andre Brooks and Kyle Luddy added key contributions as the Mustangs poured in 49 second-half points. Solomon Lewis capped the scoring with a three-pointer, sealing the 32-point win.

Stevenson will stay on the road as it travels to Alvernia on Saturday, January 10, for a 3:00 p.m. MAC Commonwealth tip-off.
