Finnegan records first shutout as Stevenson defeats Misericordia

REISTERSTOWN, Md. – The Stevenson University men's ice hockey team (12–5–1 overall, 12–2–1 MAC) earned a 3–0 shutout victory over Misericordia University (4–13–1 overall, 4–9–1 MAC) on Friday evening. Louis Finnegan recorded his first shutout in a Mustang uniform.

John Musella opened the scoring in the 15th minute of the first period, assisted by Matt Yeager and Morris Schneider, giving the Mustangs a 1–0 lead heading into the first intermission.

Midway through the second period, Caden Smith doubled Stevenson's lead after finding the back of the net off assists from Yeager and Musella. Greg Spitznagel added an insurance goal early in the third period, extending the Mustangs' lead with assists from Carson Galin and Jack Meloff.

Stevenson outshot the Cougars, 28–20, and won 25 of 47 faceoffs. Finnegan finished the contest with 20 saves in net.

The Mustangs will next turn their attention to MAC opponent Wilkes on Saturday. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. at Toyota Sportsplex.
