DeMan, Otto tally goals, Mustangs drop 2-3 to King’s (Pa.)

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Stevenson women's ice hockey team (2-13-1 overall, 2-9-1 MAC) dropped a narrow 3-2 decision to King's (Pa.) on Saturday afternoon.

Emma DeMan opened the scoring for the Mustangs at the 11:38 mark of the first period, finishing a play set up by Meghan Croyle. The Monarchs answered with a power-play goal later in the frame to send the game into the first intermission tied at 1-1.

King's took the lead in the second period, scoring twice to build a 3-1 advantage. Stevenson responded in the third, as Kira Otto found the back of the net with assists from Abby Smith and DeMan to pull the Mustangs within one. Despite sustained offensive pressure, Stevenson was unable to net the equalizer, and King's held on for the 3-2 win.

The Mustangs controlled the pace of play, outshooting the Monarchs 56-21 and winning 42 of 67 faceoffs. DeMan led the way at the dot with 24 wins, while Kayedi Spone added 16. Maggie Sehnert and Emily Carson split time in net, combining for 18 saves.

Stevenson will next face Lebanon Valley on Friday. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Hersheypark Arena.
