FREDERICK, Md. -
Brandon Cogdill led the Mustangs in dominant victories against Hood College and Lebanon Valley College, but Stevenson fell short against York College (Pa.).
Cogdill took pole position in both Breaststroke events and provided his team with the only two victories in their all-MAC quad meet.
James Riordon's team overpowered Hood for the second time this season, 177-47, as well as Lebanon Valley, 183-56. His team contended against the undefeated York, but were outswam by the Spartans 62-195.
The quad meet, hosted by Hood, opened with the 200-yard Medley Relay.
Keon Pugh, Cogdill,
William Lebron, and
Justin Watts finished in third behind both York teams, recording a time of 1:45.80.
Brendan Lach and
Noah Abd followed the relay team's performance with a second and fifth place finish in the 1000-yard Freestyle and 200-yard Free. Lach finished the 1000 free with a time of 10:56.38, while Abd swam a personal best, 2:03.28, in the 200 free.
Watts returned to the pool and claimed fifth in the 100-yard Backstroke and recorded a time of 1:03.18.
Cogdill followed Watts' performance with the first win of the meet for the Mustangs. He won the 100-yard Breast by five hundredths of a second. His winning time was 1:05.75.
Tydus Coogan and Pugh were the top-finishers for Stevenson in the following two events, the 200-yard Butterfly and 50-yard Free, respectively. Coogan recorded a new personal best, 2:28.66, in the 200 fly.
Lebron recorded a new season best in the 100-yard Free. He finished third and swam a 53.81.
Abd followed Lebron with a new season best of his own. In the 200-yard Back, Abd finished with a time of 2:13.03, claiming third place.
Cogdill returned to the blocks for the 200-yard Breast, claiming his second victory of the meet with a time of 2:22.97.
Jack Mark, Pugh, and Lebron finished as the top performing Stevenson swimmers in the 500-yard Free, 100-yard Fly, and 200-yard Individual Medley.
The Mustangs 200-yard Freestyle Relay team, swam by Pugh, Lebron, Lach, and Watts, would claim third in the final penulitmate event of the meet.
Lach would finish the meet with a strong second place finish in the mixed 400-yard IM.
Stevenson travels away to Messiah for an 11 a.m. matchup in Grantham, Pa. on January 24.
