Owings Mills, Md. (January 14) – The Stevenson men's basketball team battled with energy and persistence Wednesday night but ultimately fell to nationally ranked No. 22 Hood College, 81–62, in MAC Commonwealth action inside Owings Mills Gymnasium.
Hood opened the game with an early scoring run, building an 8–0 advantage before Stevenson found its rhythm.
Kole Beaman helped spark the Mustangs with a transition bucket, and
Kyle Luddy added a three-pointer to trim the deficit.
Kendall Seguignol provided a lift inside with a put back and later finished a dunk off a Beaman assist, keeping Stevenson within reach. Despite the push, Hood extended its lead late in the half, sending the Mustangs into the break trailing 41–25.
Stevenson came out strong in the second half, opening with a Beaman finish in the paint and a
Noah Ihezue three-pointer off a turnover. Seguignol added consecutive baskets in the lane as the Mustangs cut the margin to 10 midway through the period. Beaman continued to attack offensively, while Ihezue knocked down another three to keep Stevenson applying pressure.
Hood responded with timely baskets down the stretch, but Stevenson continued to compete on both ends. Luddy converted a second-chance opportunity and
Andre Brooks finished inside late, though the Blazers ultimately closed out the contest for the 81–62 final.
