OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson field hockey team (4-0) snagged a 4-1 win over Penn State-Harrisburg (2-1) on Saturday afternoon. In the contest,
Gracyn Catalano notched a five-point game with two goals and an assist for the Mustangs.
Both teams came out hot in the beginning of the match, but it was
Coco Wallace who put the the Mustangs on the board. In the 13
th minute, Wallace found the back of the cage with assists from
Gracyn Catalano and
Emilie Rankin during a penalty corner play. Catalano followed five minutes later with an unassisted goal to make it a 2-0 game at half.
To kick off the third quarter, Catalano notched a third goal for the Mustangs off a ball from
Hailey Mertz. In the 43
rd minute,
Monica Druckemiller finished off scoring for Stevenson with another assist from Rankin. The Nittany Lions found the back of the net in the 50
th minute, but the Mustangs still walked with the 4-1 win.
Stevenson out shot Penn State 27-8 overall, 16-3 on cage. Catalano led Stevenson with two goals and an assist, as Druckemiller and Wallace took a two-point game with a goal each. Rankin picked up two points from her two assists on the day, and Mertz picked up a point from her assist.
Jordan Vradenburgh and
Ollie Winterle both spent time in goal, each picking up a save.
Stevenson prepares to travel to Westminster, Md. on Wednesday, September 10, to face McDaniel College. The contest is set to begin at 6 p.m.
