ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. – The Stevenson field hockey squad (7-1) defeated the St. Mary's College of Maryland Seahawks 2-0 on Wednesday evening.
In the first half, both teams battled, and each put up two shots overall, but the Mustangs notched one shot on goal.
In the 45
th minute of the contest,
Monica Druckemiller put the Mustangs on the board with assists from
Lauren Schulz and
Sydney Aylward during a penalty corner to make it a 1-0 game.
Gracyn Catalano then followed with a goal in the last two minutes of the game to finalize the 2-0 win.
Druckemiller and Catalano each slotted a two-point evening, as Aylward, Schulz, and
Coco Wallace each dished out an assist.
Jordan Vradenburgh claimed the shutout win with making a save with one shot on cage. The Mustangs outshot the Seahawks 9-5 overall, 4-1 on goal.
Stevenson returns home to face University of Mary Washington on Saturday. The team will be hosting their Mental Health Awareness Game, Youth Day with Warhawks FHC, as well as their record-breaking attendance game. The match is scheduled to begin at noon on Owings Mills East.
