HAVERFORD, Pa. – In its final match before starting conference play on Wednesday, the Stevenson Women's Volleyball team battled Centennial Conference power Haverford, dropping a 3-1 decision to the Fords.
Scores were 20-25, 25-17, 25-15 and 25-21 in favor of Haverford, while Stevenson dropped to 4-5 on the season.
The Mustangs hit .233 in the first set (12-5-30) and finished with an attack percentage of .118 (37-21-136).
Logan Burge had an outstanding afternoon as hit .348 with ten kills to just two errors on 23 attempts.
Giulia Viglietta had eight kills, with
Sydney Salazar,
Rachel Lenz and
Maren Zepfel each having six.
Declyn Tooze had 15 assists with
Courtney Foose chipping in with 14.
Isabella Terra and Viglietta each had ten digs defensively.
Lillianna Hornickle had four block assists.
In the first set, Stevenson went on a six-point run after trailing 16-15 to go up 21-16 via kills from Burge and Viglietta and a block from Burge.
The lead grew to 24-18 on an attack error, before a service error gave the Mustangs the win in the first set at 25-20.
In the second set, Stevenson led 17-15 before the Fords closed the set by scoring ten straight points to win 25-17.
Haverford took the third set 25-15 to go up 2-1 and fended off a late Stevenson rally in the fourth set to win 25-21.
Stevenson opens Commonwealth Conference play on Wednesday at Hood.
