Owings Mills, Md. – The Stevenson men's soccer team applied steady offensive pressure against St. Mary's (Md.) on Saturday, but despite out shooting the Seahawks, the Mustangs came up short in a 2-1 defeat.
The Seahawks wasted no time getting on the board, breaking through the Mustang defense for the opening goal in the ninth minute.
Stevenson leveled the match in the 29th minute when
Zack Reightler sliced past three defenders and buried his first goal of the season — the Mustangs' lone score of the afternoon.
The second half remained deadlocked until St. Mary's (Md.) converted again in the 64th minute, a strike that ultimately stood as the game-winner. Stevenson out shot the Seahawks 8-2 and held a 7-3 edge in corner kicks, but could not capitalize on their chances down the stretch.
