Elizabethtown, Pa. – The Stevenson men's soccer team extended its winning streak to three matches with a 2-1 non-conference victory over Elizabethtown on Wednesday night.
The first half saw balanced play, as both teams generated scoring opportunities with multiple shots on target, but neither side was able to convert.
Stevenson broke through in the 50th minute when
Gianfranco Vitella set up
Jacob Greene for his first collegiate goal, giving the Mustangs the lead. Just minutes later,
Ellis Amo doubled the advantage, finishing a pass from
Patrick Caulden for what proved to be the game-winner.
Elizabethtown responded in the 66th minute with its lone goal of the match. Despite out shooting Stevenson 7-5, the Blue Jays were held off by Mustang goalkeeper
Nolen Olson-Warwick, who tallied two saves, along with the rest of the defense, to preserve the victory.
Stevenson returns home on Saturday, September 13, to host St. Mary's College of Maryland at 1 p.m.
