ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The Stevenson women's lacrosse squad (7-5 Overall, 1-1 MAC Commonwealth) pick up a MAC Commonwealth win over Eastern (2-7 Overall, 0-2 MAC Commonwealth) 22-1 on Saturday afternoon. A total of 11 Mustangs netted goals in the contest.
Stevenson posted a nine-goal first quarter to start off the game for the Mustangs.
Kara Yarusso put up the first goal of the afternoon and then put up a second goal less than a minute later with an assist from
Olivia Galati. Around the 10-minute mark,
Katherine Friedman netted her first goal of the contest and then assisted Yarusso's next goal to make it a 4-0 game.
Sophia Murray scored the fifth goal for Stevenson at 5:32, as Galati followed about a minute later with back-to-back goals to make it 7-0. Before the first quarter would end,
Isabelle VanEmburgh and Yarusso would each post one more goal to make it 9-0.
Yarusso opened scoring of the second quarter, followed by two more goals from Galati to put Stevenson up 12-0. Friedman slotted an unassisted goal at 4:15, as Galati capped off the second quarter with another goal to notch the 14-0 lead at halftime.
Friedman registered a hat trick to open the second half, followed by another goal from VanEmburgh.
Maddie Kline netted a goal at 8:40 in the third, as
Megan Greenwell netted her first collegiate goal during a man-down situation. Eastern put away their lone goal away at 3:55 in the third quarter to make it a 18-1 game.
In the final quarter, the Mustangs net four more goals to cap off the win.
Alice Petersen,
Emma Carpenter, and
Zoe Kaplan all netted their first collegiate goals, as
Vivi Kaminaris put away the last goal of the game to secure the 22-1 win.
Galati and Yarusso both slotted seven-point games with five goals and two assists, as Friedman followed with a career-high six-point afternoon of three goals and three assists. Kline and Petersen posted a goal and an assist for a two-point game, and VanEmburgh netted two goals. Yarusso, Murray, and
June Price all snagged four draw controls. Murray led the caused turnovers and ground ball column with four ground balls and three caused turnovers.
Anna Johnston,
Regan Torbert, and
Reilly Holstrom all spent time in goal for Stevenson, tallying a combined four saves.
Stevenson prepares to travel to Hood College on Wednesday for a game under the lights. The contest is set to begin at 7 p.m.
