No. 12 Men’s Lacrosse deals Widener 21-8 decision in regular season finale

CHESTER, Pa— The No. 12 Men's Lacrosse team (13-4 Overall, 6-1 MAC Commonwealth) defeated the Widener Pride (4-13 Overall, 3-4 MAC Commonwealth) 21-8 on Saturday afternoon to conclude the regular season. 
 
The Mustangs opened scoring as Darrell Curtis put away back-to-back with assists from Gavin Gossen at the 11:02 and 10:04 mark, followed by a goal from Hunter Bryant to put the Mustangs up 3-0. The Pride put their first goal up just under the eight-minute mark, but Stevenson replied with goals from Max Racich and Grant Zick. Widener then slipped one more goal away with 24 seconds on the clock, but the Mustangs still led 5-2. 
 
Gossen opened scoring of the second quarter, followed by a goal from Camden Miller. Widener put to goals away in the tenth minute of the second quarter, but Gossen slotted his second goal to make it an 8-4 game at half time. 
 
The Mustangs came out hot in the second half with a goal from Racich and Dillon Linhardt. The Pride netted their fifth goal at 11:19, but Stevenson responded with a string of four goals with the help of Andrew Searing, Alexander Wilson, Linhardt, and Gossen to slot a 14-5 lead at the end of the third quarter.
 
In the fourth quarter, Stevenson started off with four goals from Searing, Racich, Bryant, and Brennan McKneely. Widener netted their sixth goal with under eight minutes to play, but Stevenson replied with a goal from Curtis and two goals from Linhardt. The Pride netted two last goals just under two minutes, but Stevenson still walked with the 21-8 win. 
 
Gossen and Cutris led the Mustangs with a six-point game, slotting a hat trick and three assists each. Racich followed with a five-point game with a hat trick and two assists, as Bryant notched a three-point game. Tyler Merchant made nine saves on the day.
 
The Mustangs will be back in action on Wednesday evening in Mustang Stadium, as they host the No. 3 seed in the MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament. First face-off will be slated for 7 p.m.
