Women’s lacrosse dominates Albright in MAC Commonwealth contest

READING, Pa. – The Stevenson women's lacrosse team (10-6 Overall, 4-2 MAC Commonwealth) took down the Albright Lions (5-11 Overall, 1-5 MAC Commonwealth) 22-4 on Wednesday evening. Nine Mustangs netted goals in the contest. 
 
Stevenson opened the contest with eight-straight goals in the first quarter with three goals from Kara Yarusso, two goals from Sophia Murray, and a goal from Alice Petersen, Vivi Kaminaris and Emma Carpenter to put Stevenson up 8-0.
 
Albright opened the second quarter with a goal 14 seconds in, but Petersen replied with two goals as Olivia Galati put away one. The Lions put away their second goal of the game at the 9:31 mark, but Kellyann Coccia followed with Stevenson's 12th goal, as Isabelle VanEmburgh followed with two free-position goals to put the Mustangs up 14-2 at halftime. 
 
In the third quarter, VanEmburgh, Coccia, and Murray put up a string of three goals before Albright could put their third goal away at 6:06. Murray put an 18th goal away for Stevenson about a minute and a half later, as Albright netted one more goal at 3:10 to make it an 18-4 heading into the final quarter. 
 
In the fourth quarter, Stevenson added four more goals with the help of Murray, Yarusso, Kaminaris, and Emma Carpenter to cap off the 22-4 win.
 
Yarusso and Murray each tallied a six-point game, with four goals and two assists and five goals and an assist respectively. Petersen and VanEmburgh each posted a hat trick with an assist, as Coccia put away two goals and handed out two assists. Katherine Friedman dished out two assists on the evening, as Carpenter and Kaminaris notched two goals. Murray led the draw control column with seven, as Marisa Massimini and Yarusso scooped up four. Regan Torbert, Anna Johnston, and Reilly Holstrom all spent time in goal with a combined four saves. 
 
Stevenson will return home for their regular season finale against Widener on Saturday. First draw is set for 1 p.m. and the team will celebrate their senior class prior to the contest.
