GRANTHAM, Pa. – The Stevenson men's lacrosse team (11-4 Overall, 4-1 MAC Commonwealth) defeated the Messiah Falcons (5-10 Overall, 2-3 MAC Commonwealth) 25-7 on Saturday afternoon.
Max Racich slotted a career-high 11-point game on the afternoon to lead the Mustangs offensively, as Zick slots his 100
th career assist.
The Mustangs went on an eight-goal run in the first quarter, while holding the Mustangs scoreless. Racich put away the first goal at 14:03, as
Gavin Gossen, Darell Curtis,
Hunter Bryant, and
Grant Zick contributed to put Stevenson up 8-0.
Messiah netted the first goal of the second quarter, followed by a goal from
Andrew Searing. The Falcons retaliated with a three-goal run, but Cutris. Gossen, and Racich worked to four more goals on the board to put Stevenson up 13-4. Messiah put away another goal at the 2:07, but Gossen and Zick each slotted another goal to notch a 15-5 game at half time.
Zick opened scoring of the third quarter, followed by a goal from
Sam Edwards at the 8:35 mark. Messiah put two more goals away, but the Mustangs would keep the Falcons scoreless for the remainder of the contest, as
Alexander Wilson, Bryant, and Gossen each put a ball in the back on the net to cap off a 20-7 lead at the end of the third.
In the fourth quarter,
John Martin Vince, Dillin Linhardt, Dominic Eckles,
Matt Byron, and Racich each put a goal away for Stevenson in the fourth quarter to finalize the 25-7 victory.
Racich led the team with an 11-point afternoon with five goals and six assists, as Gossen slotted nine points off five goals and four assists. Zick tallied a hattrick with four assists, including his 100
th career-assist. Cutris posted a four-point game, as Bryant grabbed two goals and an assist.
Tyler Merchant made 11 saves in the contest.
The Mustangs return home and host the Albright Lions on Wednesday evening, as the team celebrates Senior Night. First face-off is set for 7 p.m. and following the game will be a fireworks display.
