Baseball earns a split with York

YORK, Pa. - The Stevenson University baseball team earned a split in a Commonwealth Conference doubleheader on Saturday afternoon, defeating York College of Pennsylvania in game one 4-3 in eight innings. 

In the nightcap, York (17-16, 12-6 MACC) defeated the Mustangs (9-26, 4-14 MACC) 9-4 in seven innings. 

Game 1 - Stevenson 4, York College of Pennsylvania 3
Brady Bedway got the winning run in on an error in the eighth as Vincent Licor scored breaking open a 3-3 tie. 

Stevenson had taken a 2-1 lead in the fourth on a sacrifice fly Michael McGarry that scored Collin Palmieri. That was the second run of the inning, as Zach Majeski scored on single to left by Matt Perry earlier in the inning. 

In the sixth, McGarry scored on a RBI single by Sam Batiancila, giving the Mustangs a 3-2 lead. 

Bedway, Graham Sears, Majeski, Palmieri, Perry, McGarry, Licor and Batiancila all hit safely. 

Ari Lonstein got the win, striking out two and walking two in 1.2 innings of relief. John Delgado struck out three and walked three in four innings to start, allowing just one earned run. 

Caden Dail allowed one hit in two innings of work, while Sommers Turner allowed one hit in .1 innings of relief. 

Game 2 - York College of Pennsylvania 9, Stevenson 4
Falling behind 4-0 after two, Stevenson got one back in the third as Bedway doubled to left scoring Connor Endres.

Down 6-1 in the fourth, Stevenson got two back in the fifth as Nick Griffin hit a two-run single scoring Endres and Bedway. 

Finally, Batiancila homered to left in the seventh. 

Bedway had a two-hit game in the nightcap, while Griffin, Batiancila and Endres all had hits. 

Zane Stone took the loss, striking out two and walking one in 1.1 innings of work. 

Stevenson takes on Wilson on Thursday at home.
