OWINGS MILLS, Md. – The Stevenson University baseball team rallied from a 7-0 deficit after the top of the fourth inning, as the Mustangs (10-26) defeated Wilson (7-24) 11-9 in a non-conference affair on Thursday.
The Mustangs took the lead for good with three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning as
Jaylon Surell had a two-run single that scored
Sam Batiancila and
Matt Perri, followed by an RBI single from
Dalton Reinhart that scored
Graham Sears.
Batiancila finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI, while Reinhart was 2-for-5 with two runs scored.
Liam Houghton had two hits, including a home run to left center in the fifth inning that scored Reinhart and
Zack Majeski.
Perri and Surell each had two hits in the win.
Dhruv Indelicato got the win, allowing one walk in the eighth, while
Ari Lonstein got his second save of the season with a 1-2-3 ninth.
Trailing 7-0, Stevenson got two in the fourth as Batiancila singled to third scoring Houghton, followed by
Christopher Manco scoring on a sacrifice bunt by Perri.
After Houghton's home run in the fifth, Surell singled to right that scored Batiancila. The Mustangs tied the score in the sixth as Manco hit a fly to center scoring Reinhart followed by Houghton scoring on a single by Batiancila.
Stevenson begins its series with Eastern on Friday at the Yard.
