York upends Softball in Commonwealth Twinbill

OWINGS MILLS, Md. - The Stevenson University softball team dropped a doubleheader to York College of Pennsylvania on Friday by scores of 4-1 and 11-4. 

Game 1 - York 4, Stevenson 1
York struck first with two in the second and two more in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead. Stevenson got its lone run of the game in the bottom of the fifth as Maria Morsa scored on a sacrifice RBI by McKenzie Tobler. 

Tobler, Rebecca Maiorano, Ava Stafursky and Caylee Cliett each his safely in the opener. 

Angelica Gurevich took the loss, striking out seven and walking five.

Game 2 - York 11, Stevenson 4
Stevenson took an early 2-0 lead after the first as Ava Stafursky singled to centerfield scoring Tobler, while Stafursky later scored on a RBI single by Tessa Boswell. 

York then scored four in the second, one in the third and five in the fourth to take a 10-2 lead. 

In the bottom of the fourth, Tobler scored on a RBI single by Mykaela Getz. In the sixth, Sahara Ward scored on a bases loaded walk by Stafursky. 

Ward had two hits, while Tobler, Getz, Rebecca Henry, Boswell, Danielle Mills and Maddie Buher all hit safely. 

Alexis Kirkessner took the loss, striking out three and walking three in 3.1 innings. 

Stevenson heads to Salisbury on Wednesday.
