No. 11 Men’s Lacrosse win streak snapped by No. 15 Spartans

OWINGS MILLS, Md.— The Stevenson men's lacrosse team (10-4 Overall, 3-1 MAC Commonwealth) fell to the York (Pa.) Spartans (11-3 Overall, 4-0 MAC Commonwealth) 20-13 on Wednesday evening, taking the team's first loss in conference play. 
 
The Mustangs were the first team to get on the board as Grant Zick put one away at the 12:39 mark, as the Spartans replied less than a minute later to tie the contest 1-1. Hunter Bryant then netted a man-down goal a minute later to slot Stevenson's second goal. Gavin Gossen netted the third goal for the Mustangs at the 4:27 mark off a pass from Max Racich, as Zick followed with another goal. The Spartans put one more goal away with under a minute on the clock, but Stevenson held the 4-2 lead at the end of the first quarter. 
 
Racich put up the first goal of the second quarter off a pass from Camden Miller. Darrell Curtis followed about six minutes later with a man-up goal off a pass form Zick, as York retaliated with a goal at 6:36. Less than a minute later, Racich slotted a man-up goal with an assist from Curtis, but York responded with three goals to make it a 7-6 game at half time, with Stevenson holding the one-point lead. 
 
Zick started off the second half with a goal a minute in with an assist from Racich, as Hunter Bryant put another goal away at 11:59 off a ball from Gossen. The Spartans came back with two more goals, to make it a one-point game with 10:13 on the clock. Gossen put the 10th goal for Stevenson on the board with under five minutes to play, but the Spartans pushed through with a three-goal string to take a 11-10 lead at the end of the third. 
 
In the fourth quarter, Bryant tied the contest less than a minute in with an assist from Curtis. York responded to retake the lead, as Racich battled back to tie the contest 12-12 at 8:37. The Spartans then went on a two-goal run before Curtis halted the run with a goal at 4:47 to make it a 15-13 game, the Mustangs trailing. York then finalized the win over Stevenson with five more goals, slotting a 20-13 loss for the Mustangs.
 
Racich and Gossen both led with a five-point night, as Curtis and Zick each posted four points in the game. Bryant registered a hat trick on the night, as Miller handed out an assist. Tyler Merchant made nine saves in the crease for Stevenson. 
 
Stevenson will prepare to travel to face the Messiah Falcons on Saturday afternoon. The contest is slotted to begin at 1 p.m.
