CARLISLE, Pa. – The No. 19 Stevenson men's lacrosse squad (4-2) took down No. 13 Dickinson (3-2) 16-10 on Saturday afternoon.
Grant Zick led the Mustangs with a five-point afternoon with a hat trick and two assists.
Stevenson opened scoring with a goal from
Hunter Bryant followed by a second from
Brennan McKneely. The Devils put up their first goal with 11:32 on the clock, but the Mustangs replied with a three-goal run.
Gavin Gossen put Stevenson's third goal home, followed by goals from
Darrell Curtis and
Max Racich. Dickinson replied with two goals to close out the first quarter, as Stevenson led 5-3.
In the second quarter, Stevenson put five more goals away while holding the Devils to four.
Grant Zick and
Camden Miller put away the first two goals of the quarter at 12:47 and 11:40. Dickinson battled back with one, as Curtis replied with an eighth goal for the Mustangs. Before half, the Devils would put away three more goals, but Bryant and
Dillon Linhardt each netted a goal to secure a 10-7 lead at halftime.
The Mustangs came out ready to go in the second half starting with an immediate man-up goal from
Andrew Searing six seconds in. Linhardt and Zick followed with a goal each to slot Stevenson at 13 points. Dickinson would put their eighth goal away with under a minute left in the third quarter, but the Mustangs still led the contest 13-8.
In the fourth quarter, Racich, Zick, and
Taz Delaney each fired away goals for Stevenson, as the defense held Dickinson to only two. Stevenson walked with the 16-10 upset win over the Devils.
Zick led Stevenson with a five-point afternoon with three goals and two assists. Gossen registered three points with a goal and two assists. Bryant, Curtis, Linhardt, and Racich each posted two goals in the contest.
Tyler Merchant held down the crease, making 17 saves in the match up and picked up four ground balls.
The Mustangs will prepare to face No. 18 Lynchburg in the Callum Robinson Mustang Classic on Friday evening. The game is set to begin at 8:30 p.m.
