OWINGS MILLS, Md. - Stevenson University is proud to announce the Class of 2025 for the Dick Watts Athletics Hall of Fame. The class includes six former student-athletes, one team of tradition and one contributor. The class will be inducted at a ceremony scheduled for Saturday, October 18 in conjunction with Homecoming Weekend.
This year's class includes Leah (Warner) Abendschoen '14 (Women's Lacrosse), Meg (Gill) Peitsch '15 (Field Hockey and Women's Lacrosse), Ben Lukehart '14 (Men's Golf) and Chris Dashiell '14 (Men's Lacrosse).
Also, Callum Robinson '15 (Men's Lacrosse) and Shannon Henretty '14 (Women's Cross Country) will be inducted posthumously.
The 2011 Men's Volleyball team will be inducted as a Team of Tradition, while their coach, Jeff Blake, will be honored as a contributor.
Warner, a member of the Class of 2014, was a three-year captain for the Mustangs. She was a two-time All-MAC Commonwealth All-Conference selection in 2013 and 2014, while earning second-team All-Region honors from the IWLCA her senior year. She is second in school history in points in a season with 88 in 2013. Her 273 points during her career is still tops in school history as is her career assists (105), while her 168 goals rank third in school history.
Henretty, a member of the Class of 2014, she spent three seasons on the women's cross-country team from 2011-13 and one on the women's track and field team during the 2012 indoor and outdoor seasons. Henretty competed in two NCAA Division III Mideast Region Cross Country Championships and the 2013 Middle Atlantic Conference Championship. On the track, she finished eighth in the 10,000 meters at the 2010 Capital Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships. Henretty was a three-time conference All-Academic selection and recipient of the Dick Watts Award which is given to a senior transfer with the highest-grade point average. Serving as an assistant coach for the cross-country program, she passed away in December 2014.
Gill, a member of the Class of 2015, was an outstanding two-sport athlete for the Mustangs. As a member of the women's lacrosse team, she was a three-time All-MAC All-Commonwealth First-Team selection. She was also a three-time All-Region selection from the IWLCA, including first-team selection during the 2014 season. In field hockey, was a two-time All-Commonwealth selection as a second-team member. She still ranks first in women's lacrosse history in caused turnovers with 113 and third in ground balls at 152. She was a two-time All-MAC All-Academic selection.
Robinson, a member of the Class of 2015, was an outstanding student-athlete. During his first season in Spring 2013, as a sophomore, Callum appeared and started in all 24 games for the Mustangs, totaled five points from his defensive position with three goals and two assists, led the team with 35 caused turnovers, picked up a season-high seven ground balls versus Lynchburg, and had a season-high five caused turnovers versus Christopher Newport. And, of course, he helped bring home the NCAA National Championship trophy to SU that year. His superlative record didn't stop with his sophomore year. His 2014 and 2015 seasons continued to highlight his talent, drive, and passion for excellence, and in 2015, his senior year, he was drafted by the Chesapeake Bayhawks with the 27th pick in the MLL draft, led the conference and ranked 23rd in Division III in caused turnovers, and was named to the ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic All Star Team and MAC Academic All-Conference Team, and was named a USILA First Team All-American and MAC Men's Lacrosse Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the highest award in the conference that a student-athlete can achieve. Sadly, Robinson passed away in May 2024.
Lukehart, a member of the Class of 2014, was a member of the Division III/Ping Mid-Atlantic All-Region Team during his junior and senior season as well as a first-team All-Commonwealth Conference selection. An outstanding student, he was one of just six players named to the inaugural MAC Academic All-Conference Men's Golf team in 2014. Prior to Stevenson being in the MAC, he was a first-team selection in the Capital Athletic Conference during his sophomore and freshman seasons. His play in 2011 earned him the CAC Rookie of the Year. During his senior season, Lukehart averaged a 75.68 over 19 rounds this season, both career-bests, while totaling nine top 10 finishes and five rounds of even par or better. He tied the school record with a three-under par 69 at the Camp Lejeune Intercollegiate on March 28, 2014, and shot a two-under par 70 at the Elizabethtown Fall Blue Jay Classic.
Dashiell, a member of the Class of 2014, was a first-team All-Commonwealth Conference selection during his senior season. He was also a USILA Honorable Mention All-American in 2014, after receiving second-team honors from the USILA as an All-American during his junior year. A member of the 2013 NCAA Division III National Championship Team, he appeared in 90 games during his career. He scored the game-winning goal against Widener with just nine seconds remaining in 2013, while leading the team with 86 (33g, 53a) points. He also earned All-Commonwealth Conference first-team selection during his junior season.
Blake served as the head coach for Stevenson University men's volleyball team from 2006 to 2012. During his time as coach, he led Stevenson to 118 wins which is second all-time in school history for the program. The Mustangs appeared in the postseason during his first season and every year between 2009 to 2012. He was the first coach to lead the Mustangs to a Top 15 ranking by the AVCA. He also served as an assistant coach for the women's volleyball program. Former head coach Steve Grossnickel, who played for Blake at Calvert Hall and Stevenson, led the team to the NCAA semifinals.
The 2011 men's volleyball team captured the first championship in program history after finishing with a 26-7 record. The team defeated Hunter, 3-1, in the ECAC South Championship. The team finished with an 8-4 mark in the NECVA and qualified for the NECVA Championship. Austin Jacoby was named the NECVA Rookie of the Year, while head coach Jeff Blake was named the NECVA Metro Coach of the Year. Four players also earned NECVA Metro All-Division honors.
