WESTMINSTER, Md. – Homestanding McDaniel scored nine times in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Green Terror (2-3-1) defeated Stevenson (2-6) 16-6 in baseball non-conference play on Tuesday.
Nick Griffin went 3-for-4 with an RBI while Dalton Reinhart went 3-for-5 as the Mustangs banged out 11 hits on the afternoon. Brandon Perillo also had two hits.
Stevenson jumped out of the gate early scoring four runs in the top of the first inning as Collin Palmieri doubled to right center scoring Kaige Garrity and Reinhart. Palmieri would later score on an RBI triple down the left field line by Christopher Manco.
Manco would score the fourth run of the inning on a single to left by Perillo.
Stevenson went up 5-1 in the fifth as Griffin scored on an RBI groundout by Palmieri.
After the Green Terror tied the score in the fifth, Stevenson took the lead one last time as 6-5 in the top half of the sixth as Perillo scored on an RBI single by Griffin.
Seven different pitchers took the hill for Stevenson, as Sommers Turner started the game and throw three innings allowing four hits. Carl Sansbury took the loss, as he gave up two runs in .2 innings of work.
Stevenson heads to Myrtle Beach, S.C., for games against the University of Mary Washington, New England College and Rhode Island College.
