GRANTHAM, Pa. – Messiah (14-6, 6-0 MACC) swept Stevenson (14-5, 3-3 MACC) in both ends of a doubleheader on Saturday in conference softball action.
In game one, Messiah defeated the Mustangs 14-5 with the Falcons taking game two 8-0.
Game 1 – Messiah 14, Stevenson 5 (5 innings)
Stevenson struck first in the opener, as Rebecca Maiorano scored on a single by Ava Stafursky. Messiah would answer with seven in the first and then five more in the second to take a 12-1 lead.
Leading 14-1, Messiah saw Stevenson add one in the fourth as Danielle Mills singled up the middle scoring Rebecca Henry. Maiorano would double in the fifth scoring McKenzie Tobler, followed by Henry knocking in Maria Morsa and Teagan Kreshik.
Tobler and Maiorano along with Henry collected two hits in the opener, with Stafursky, Mills and Sahara Ward also hitting safely.
Angelica Gurevich took the loss, falling to 4-1. She walked three and allowed four earned runs in 0.2 innings.
Game 2 – Messiah 8, Stevenson 0 (5 innings)
Stevenson collected just three hits in the nightcap, with Tobler getting two and Tessa Boswell getting one.
Alexis Kirkessner struck out two and walked two in four innings of work, falling to 5-3.
Stevenson goes to Susquehanna on Wednesday.
